Very roughly translated: Additions to the History of the Family Speidel - The Baling Speidel gathered and published by Wilhelm Mauer. These records are written entirely in German. The introduction states that from the area of Weilderstadt, the Speidel family branched off into the Backnang branch and the Hagelloch branch. These records are for the Backnang branch. The records start with Andreas Speidel and his wife Anna Breitachwerdt. Their son was Johann Wilhelm Speidel b. 24 Nov 1560 d. 11 Dec 1608 m. 1595 to Anna Maria Linck. Very roughly translated: Additions to the History of the Family Speidel - The Holzerling Miller Branch Speidel gathered and published by Wilhelm Mauer. These records are written entirely in German. The introduction states that there are records showing seven Speidels were chosen to go into the Civil Register in 1523. There were two branches of the family, one from Mössing and one from Belsen. The Mössing branch has almost died out so the records are for only the Belsen branch. The records start with Conrad Speidel b. 1627 d. 1692. Married first to Ursula Eyhin then to Anna Baur. Contains records for the Martin Speidel and Hannah Patterson family. Martin was born 10 Oct 1838 in Belsen, Kingdom of Wurtemberger, Germany and came to the U.S. when he was 13 years old. Ohio Historical Society - has a wealth of information that can be used to research Speidel families (Spidel in Darke County, Spidle in Stark County) who lived in Ohio. They have a large collection of newspapers that I have used to find old obituaries. They also have an On-Line Death Certificate Search Engine that can be used to locate death certificates issued between 1913 and 1937.

Illinois Statewide Marriage Index - This index can be used to search for marriages recorded in Illinois between 1763 and 1900. If an index record is found, there is a link to provide information for obtaining a copy of the original marriage certificate.

Visit The Speidel House. Located in Brigantine, New Jersey, The Speidel House was built in 1927, bought by Charles Speidel in 1937 and owned by the Speidel family until 1957. The house has recently been restored and opened to the public as a beautiful Bed and Breakfast. Throughout the house are pictures and memorablilia from the Speidel family's past.

The Parkdale Maplewood Community Museum in Nova Scotia, Canada was founded by Thomas Spidell, 2nd. The museum contains a diverse selection of artifacts from around the world originally collected by Thomas. It also houses books of all types, family and community histories, school registers, and funeral records. The museum is currently conducting a fund raising drive to pay for an expansion. Kathy Cardoza is a descendant of Elizabeth SPIDLE born about 10 Mar 1806 in PA. Elizabeth married Jacob HINKLE on 16 Mar 1824 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle, Cumberland County, PA. They lived in Cumberland county until their deaths, Jacob on 17 Jul 1878, and Elizabeth on 10 Feb 1878. They are both buried in the Trindle Springs Lutheran Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.
